Being a big fan of anything that has to do with motorized saws, I couldn't help but notice the slew of new games on the horizon that have chainsaw weapons as a big part of the game. I'm talking about Gears of War Deuce, the black and white (and red) Wii bloodbath MadWorld, and Resident Evil 5 (the sack-headed chainsaw psycho from RE4 has been replaced by a leaner, meaner, non-spanish speaking opponent who also uses a chainsaw to rip through people he doesn't like).

Gears of War 2's Chainsaw Use: Two words: chainsaw fight. Yes, in Gears of War 2 not only will you be able to once again wield the assault rifle/chainsaw known as the Lancer, shredding straight through enemies, but now you'll be able to go up against an opponent who is also carrying a chainsaw. If you've ever seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (the one that stars the flubby girl from Bridget Jones' Diary and Matthew Mcconaughey with his remote controlled bionic leg) you've seen the film's ending finale where a chainsaw fight takes place, and you know how rad a duel with two of these high-powered gardening tools can be. It may sound a bit dumb, but the idea of chainsaw against chainsaw in Gears 2 is one of the biggest attractions I'm looking forward to in this game. Sparks will fly.

MadWorld's Chainsaw Use: In the game, you play as Jack, a massive dude who has a chainsaw attached to his arm, similar to the Evil Dead trilogy's protagonist Ash who rarely goes without his chainsaw. Our hope is that, based on all the creative fatalities we've seen in videos for MadWorld, that in the game you'll be able to butcher enemies in multiple ways using this weapon. Wii Remote and Motion Controls + Chainsaw = fun for the whole family.

Resident Evil 5's Chainsaw Use: This one's a bit different from MadWorld and Gears of War 2 in the way that you won't (at least not to our knowledge... unlockable weapon perhaps?) be actually using the chainsaw, but instead dodging the attacks of an enemy trying to hack you to ribbons with one. Most of us remember Resident Evil 4's iconic burlap-bag headed Dr. Salazar, and if you've played the game yourself you know how grisly it is when his saws off your head if you're not careful. We can't wait to see how Resident Evil 5's similar chainsawed adversary ups the ante in terms of the destruction he can cause to your body using his multi-metal-toothed weapon. Forget beheadings by chainsaw, we wanna see limbs get torns off with a saw and other forms of mutilation.

What about you all? What use of the chainsaw do you think will be the most promising?

Resistance 2 has a chain saw shooting gun as well I believe.

Holy crap, you're right! Chainsaws are definitely in right now in big games.

Chainsaw Gun < Gun that Shoots Chainsaws : )

Dude im not hating on resistance but that relly sounds like their answer to gears. (since there kinda opposing games)

Chainsaws are nice. However, I would like to see more flamethrowers in games.

Fallout 3 might have one you could make....or at least you could shoot one out of a gun, like mentioned above
